What is Organic SEO?

Organic search engine optimization is when you work on getting found without paying for ads. You pay to get your website tweaked and modified so that the search engines find the information better — on-going support for the latest changes the search engines put out. The search engines go through over 400 updates per year.

It would be best to have a solid digital marketing foundation of organic SEO, as many web users are smart and ignore targeted paid ads.

Local SEO

What is Local SEO?

When people come to us, they know they need search engine optimization or SEO. Whether you have a physical location or are a service-based business with no physical location, Local SEO will work for you.

Local SEO is a digital marketing strategy that targets the local market through search engine optimization tactics. It’s perfect for service-based businesses or businesses located in a specific area that don’t want to target a nationwide audience.

What is National SEO?

SEO on a National scale takes the local SEO and makes it fit a broader market. While SEO on the national and local market are similar there are significant differences in how to rank nationally. When trying to reach an audience across the United States. The key elements that are done for national SEO are:

  • Proper Keyword Research and related keyword identification
  • Identification of Localized Keywords (to be avoided)
  • Creation of Content that focuses on a national level
  • Specific care and correction of Technical issues/indexing/structure load speeds, security, etc.
  • Create and execute backlinks and citations
  • Create unique content that is not geographically local

National SEO

Local vs National SEO

Differences Between Local and National SEO

Local SEO targets a small geographic area rather than the entire United States. If your business is solely in a small geographic location than local SEO is what your business needs. There is no good reason to market in California if your business is in a city/town in Illinois. You need to have as much information covering your local territory as you can to get your positive message out.

On a national level, competition is much stronger and budgets much bigger. Typically, there are only 10 coveted positions in the SERPS on the first page and depending on the industry this can make a particular keyword set incredibly competitive and difficult. This means your marketing needs to be on-target with a truly optimized web experience to truly market your business.

Is there International SEO?

International SEO or ISEO incorporates the methods, tactics, and processes used to optimize a website to rank in the search engine's organic search results like Google or Bing in specific target countries. The simple purpose is to attract visitors to your website from multiple countries, provide them with compelling content, and affect a conversion (a sale or a lead).

Accessing the non-English speaking market allows you to potentially more than double audience and growth. Accessing the English-speaking market outside the United States has even more potential for growth.

Our specialty is local and National SEO within the United States. We have clients in other countries, and when we are working the SEO for these companies, we work with local SEO providers who have actual boots on the ground within those countries. We coordinate and make sure the core digital marketing goals. We want to be clear we are not doing SEO for companies outside of the United States.

Local Directories

Local & National Directories

Think of directories as digital versions of the White and Yellow Pages. These two directories work for both local and national SEO campaigns. You should not be in every directory but the directories that align with your business. If you are a farmer looking to improve your SEO, you need to be in all farming related online directories. Being in online directories related to steel manufacturing wouldn't benefit you in your business's growth.

Services Like Yext

We used to use services, like Yext, but when we dug into them we found them to not align with our business practices. Our goal is to give you, the business owner, complete ownership of everything we do. We feel we are your employee that is truly specialized in digital marketing. Yext is a great service where they get you up and running within weeks rather than a couple of months. Below is a simplified list of why we don't use Yext and related services and chose the old school method of working hard to provide you a great solution.

Yext Pros

  • You are online within a few weeks.
  • It is easy and hands off.
  • Consolidates your reviews (Yelp, Google, etc.) which are all available for free.
  • Locked in to $50-$100/month for life to maintain your free Internet information.

Yext Cons

  • When you leave you lose most/all the changes that were done with Yext.
  • Doesn't integrate all directory listings. These still have to be done manually.
  • Many listings are still have inconsistent data and must be updated manually.
  • You will see an increase in spam to your email addresses.
  • Only covers local citations and not any other SEO.

Pay Per Click (PPC) Ads

Paid ads allow you to index specific points within the search engine results. Paid ads are great when moving your products/services into a new market.

Before you ever consider doing paid advertising, you need to make sure your foundation of organic SEO is complete. If it isn't, you will hurt your campaign and spend more money on paid ads than you should. Optimize your website for your ideal customer. You should research your competition and see what, if anything, they are doing.

Once your website is ready, create multiple paid ad campaigns that link to your website and use tracking codes. Tracking codes allow you to gauge the effectiveness of your PPC campaigns.

Technical SEO Audit

What is a Technical SEO Audit

Technical SEO is the discipline responsible for determining whether the implementation of a website reduces the organic search traffic coming to that site, and then fixing those implementation problems. A technical audit uncovers such issues and is marked as high, medium, and low priorities.

Name, Address, and Phone Number (NAP)

A key aspect of your SEO strategy is where your name, address, and phone number match on every website; this includes social media. A site will often list your name but not your address, phone number, or even your website. Search engines are smart enough to know this is you and is considered a citation (or mention) of your business. Other times an address or phone number will be shown and are also a mention of your business.

Consistency is key here. If you abbreviate one, then shorten it everywhere. Do not abbreviate unless it is required, as not everyone may know what your abbreviation means.
